Star Wars Lego Preview - Set 10215 Ucs Jedi Starfighter

Lego has a way of surprising even the most ardent fans. So in a way when they announced their late 2010 lineup more than a few Star Wars fans were wondering what the unannounced set would be. They didn't have long to find out.

The last Star Wars Lego set to be released in 2010 (as far as we know) is the extreme Collector's Series Obi-Wan's Jedi Starfighter. First featured in attack of the Clones this sleek red and white space ship, also known as the Delta-7 Aethersprite-class light interceptor, is the ship of a Jedi Knight; sleek, fast and with an intuitive operate system.

Lego

Normally used for peaceful missions by the Jedi Knights the starfighter did come with twin-barrel laser cannons that Obi-Wan found came in very handy in his race of Jango Fett. The starfighter required an external hyperdrive ring to trip in hyperspace, and its omission from this Lego set is possibly one thing Lego could have improved on first sight at the model.

With 676 pieces it is one of the smaller Ucs models released by Lego, compared to 2010's other Ucs release, the Imperial Shuttle which has over 2500 pieces. It measures 9 in (23 cm) high on stand, 18" (47 cm) long and 9" (22 cm) wide and is priced to retail at which seems quite high given the lack of minifigures and piece count.

It comes with a detailed cockpit and wing mounted R4-P17 astromech droid dome that rotates, the latter no doubt will be a piece prized by fans who make their own models as it is quite a bit larger than other astromech droid heads Lego has previously released. The model also comes with a display stand and plaque for display.

Given the price point fans may wait for this model to go on sale before adding it to their collection but despite that minor quibble, it is a nice increasing to the Star Wars range.

Lego 2010 Harry Potter Preview - Set 4840 - The Burrow

Lego have relaunched their Harry Potter range of building toys in 2010 with wave of new sets due for issue in October. One of these sets includes a Lego brick fertilization of the fan favourite house, The Burrow. For those not in the know about Harry Potter (all four of you), the Burrow is another name for the quirky house belonging to the Weasley family.

Ron Weasley is Harry Potter's best friend and we first visit the strange home in book two, chamber Of Secrets. Jk Rowling described the house in great information and highlighted its unique wizarding furniture and layout, along with a rather haphazard building over its many levels that are no doubt held together by magic rather than bricks and mortar.

Lego

This set depicts a scene in book whole six, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, where Harry and the Weasley house have gathered for Christmas but find themselves under assault from two of Lord Voldemort's death Eaters. Bellatrix Lestrange and Fenrir Greyback, the two main DeathEaters are featured in this set and it is the first time either have been featured as Lego minifigures.

Also featured for the first time are Ginny Weasley and Mr (Arthur) and Mrs (Molly) Weasley. Harry Potter is also featured in a new designed blue and grey torso. The figures are all amazing, well designed and intricately detailed, and most have two expressions on their heads. Based on the list of figures alone, this set will be beloved with Lego and Harry Potter fans!

The house itself is represented by a naturally haphazard three level structure as well as a pig pen and a fire that can transport figures by Flu Powder. Lego have used a nice color project on the house, with the majority of the structure using dark red and brown with white and light blue highlights. Each floor has a cut off room, with two bedrooms and a kitchen area being the main detailed areas.

Regardless of what people think of the house, it is the figures that will attract fans and this set is sure to be a hit ahead of the seventh movie's issue in November.

Star Wars Lego New Releases - August 2010 Preview

In the last month, at each year Toy Fairs colse to the world, Lego have unveiled the next wave of releases in their popular Star Wars line. Due for issue in August 2010 the Lego sets are a mix of old and new with brand new sets and re-releases from the former trilogy, the Prequel Trilogy and the Clone Wars.

One of the main draws of any new Star Wars set is the new minifigures and this wave doesn't disappoint. The sets themselves are also a mixture of new models and old. As usual the focus is on vehicles but the increasing of a play set will also request for retrial to fans.

With 297 pieces, model 8089, The Hoth Wampa Set combines the new form of the mighty Wampa with a redesign of the snowspeeder. This is the third interpretation of the snowspeeder, it has been previously released twice in standalone sets and once in someone else Hoth play set. The Hoth Wampa set also comes with Luke Skywalker in Hoth gear (ready to be suspended in the Wampa's meat freezer) and a snowspeeder pilot and will retail for .99.

The re-release of Boba Fett's Slave 1 includes the third version of Slave 1 to be released as well as the figures of Boba Fett, Bossk and Han Solo. The latter includes a Carbonite mould that can be attached to the Han Solo form and carried by two other figures. The redesign of Slave One looks to be a huge revision over previous versions. Boba Fett's Slave 1 has been released twice before and the most recent version, model 8097, is more screen-accurate in both colors and design. It will retail for .99.

Model 8096 is Emperor Palpatine's Shuttle as seen in lesson Three, where it was used to salvage a scarred and burned Anakin Skywalker after his battle with Obi Wan Kenobi. The Shuttle is a first time issue from Lego and includes figures of The Emperor, Anakin in transition to cyborg Darth Vader, a shuttle pilot and a healing droid. The vehicle will have 592 pieces and will retail for .99.

Model 8095 is someone else re-release, normal Grievous Starfighter. With 454 pieces it comes with 3 figures a beautifully designed normal Grievous, a healing droid and Bant Eerin. A Mon Calamari, Bant Eerin is Kit Fisto's padawan and met his demise in the Clone Wars Season one lesson The Lair Of normal Grievous. As mentioned previously the normal Grievous minifig is a huge revision on previous lesson 3 sets and this form will no doubt be extremely sought after on the sets release. The normal Grievous Starfighter will retail for .99.

Set 8093 is Plo Koon's Starfighter a debut model in Lego. Plo Kloon was a illustrious pilot and famously met his demise in lesson Three after being shot down by fellow clone pilots after Order 66. The starfighter set is 175 pieces and includes the figures of Plo Kloon and his astromech droid. The fighter itself is a beautiful blue and white develop reminiscent of the Jedi Starfighters from lesson two. Set 8093 will retail for .99

The last set for this late 2010 wave of Star Wars Lego sets is the re-release of the Clone Turbo Tank. Released colse to the time of lesson Three, the former set came with Mace Windu and clone troopers but this most recent issue gives us a Clone wars Tv series theme. Figures contain two new designs-Clone wars villain Cad Bane and Jedi scholar Aalya Secura. Other figures in this set contain Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano, and two clone troopers. The Clone Wars Turbo Tank will have 1141 pieces, production it the largest set of this wave and nothing else but of the years so far. The Turbo Tank also comes with a clone walker that can deploy from the tank and the set will retail for 9.

August cannot come too soon for fans of the extremely popular Star Wars Lego licence and although the issue dates give fullness of time to ponder and over-anticipate the details of each set it also allows ample time to save!

Lego 2010 Preview - Lego City Train Sets

Lego have been releasing train sets for decades and it is one of their most favorite non-franchise based lines. The first train Lego released had commonplace wheels and no track. That was way back in 1965 and a year later they realised the popularity of toys trains in Lego format and released other train set, this time with track and a battery powered motor.

Since that time Trains have been a standby for Lego and a necessary part of any Lego city. From 4.5V battery motors came the 12 volt powered electric trains in 1969, the year of the moon landing, and Lego haven't looked back since. In 1991 the introduced a 9 volt principles which lasted until 2006 when the current remote operate era came into effect.

Lego

From 2006 to 2009 Lego train releases were controlled by using a wireless handheld controller which controls a motor in the engine. Using infrared communication and batteries in the motor the train was controlled nearby the track but the principles lacked functions and power and proved unpopular with many fans.

In 2010 Lego are releasing their latest range of remote controlled trains, but this time the remote operate makes use of the victorious Lego Power Functions (Pf) formula of automation. The first two trains to use this formula are set 7938 Passenger Train and 7939 Cargo Train, furthering Lego's tradition of contribution both cargo and express trains together.

Lego is also introducing flexible track, pieces of track that can be bent indifferent arcs depending on the track layout requirements. A Train center 7937 is also set for issue this year which will please many train fans as well as a level crossing, sadly missing for the last few years.

The 2010 trains from Lego will be worth hunting down and adding to any city Lego layout to converyance minifigs in style.
