Star Wars Lego Preview - Set 10215 Ucs Jedi Starfighter

Lego has a way of surprising even the most ardent fans. So in a way when they announced their late 2010 lineup more than a few Star Wars fans were wondering what the unannounced set would be. They didn't have long to find out.

The last Star Wars Lego set to be released in 2010 (as far as we know) is the extreme Collector's Series Obi-Wan's Jedi Starfighter. First featured in attack of the Clones this sleek red and white space ship, also known as the Delta-7 Aethersprite-class light interceptor, is the ship of a Jedi Knight; sleek, fast and with an intuitive operate system.

Lego

Normally used for peaceful missions by the Jedi Knights the starfighter did come with twin-barrel laser cannons that Obi-Wan found came in very handy in his race of Jango Fett. The starfighter required an external hyperdrive ring to trip in hyperspace, and its omission from this Lego set is possibly one thing Lego could have improved on first sight at the model.

With 676 pieces it is one of the smaller Ucs models released by Lego, compared to 2010's other Ucs release, the Imperial Shuttle which has over 2500 pieces. It measures 9 in (23 cm) high on stand, 18" (47 cm) long and 9" (22 cm) wide and is priced to retail at which seems quite high given the lack of minifigures and piece count.

It comes with a detailed cockpit and wing mounted R4-P17 astromech droid dome that rotates, the latter no doubt will be a piece prized by fans who make their own models as it is quite a bit larger than other astromech droid heads Lego has previously released. The model also comes with a display stand and plaque for display.

Given the price point fans may wait for this model to go on sale before adding it to their collection but despite that minor quibble, it is a nice increasing to the Star Wars range.

Lego - A History Of These construction Blocks Of Imagination

Lego bricks. Creativity. Childhood. They go together like Mickey Mouse and Disney, wizards and Harry Potter. Lego has been a part of childhood for more than three generations. Nearly everybody under 50 has played with these construction blocks of imagination. There is no telling how many engineers and scientists were spawned by these plastic construction blocks.

Lego is synonymous with plastic toy bricks that can be literally transformed into buildings, space ships, cars, boats, trains and a myriad of other toys. The key is that the child gets to assemble the toy from the basic construction blocks. Each toy can be assembled, disassembled and reassembled in adequate new shapes and forms to tickle the imagination and stretch the youngster's creativity.

Lego

Today, Lego is much more that the straightforward blocks invented in 1949. It is toys, theme parks, movies, and Cds. Lego construction blocks and other products are distributed around the world. These tiny plastic bricks and the company they have built, are a phenomenon with a success as considerable as Mickey Mouse.

Lego Bricks become The construction Blocks Of Fantasy

Where did Lego come from and how did it get to be such an prominent tool for childhood creativity?

Our story begins in Billund, Denmark. It is 1932. Specialist carpenter and joiner Ole Kirk Kristiansen opened a new business. His exiguous company makes stepladders, ironing boards and wooden toys. He has just six employees. Nobody could have imagined, but Lego and the exiguous construction blocks of imagination had just been born.

Two years later, Kristiansen adopted the name Lego as a brand name for his toys. The name is derived from the Danish words "leg godt," which mean "play well." Ironically, he later discovered that Lego in Latin means "I put together." Lego has truly come to mean "put together" and "play well" in virtually every language. At this time, all of the company's toys were being made from wood.

In 1942, the Lego installation burned to the ground. Kristiansen rebuilt.

In 1947, the Lego company became the first company in Denmark to buy an injection-molding machine. It began manufacture plastic toy dolls and other toys. The famed bricks were yet to be invented.

It was not until 1949 that the Lego company introduced the automated Binding Brick, a exiguous plastic brick, some with four studs and some with eight. At this time, the company was producing about 200 separate plastic toys. The automated Binding Brick was sold exclusively in Denmark.

By 1950, plastic toys became half of the company's business. Ole Kirk's son, Godtfred Kirk, who had worked in the company since age 12, was appointed junior vice president at age 30.

In 1954, Godtfred Kirk made a trip to England to meet with a purchasing agent. The purchasing agent told Kristiansen that he thought the automated Binding Bricks lacked an idea and system. Godtfred returned to Denmark. The Lego system was developed.
The following year, Godtfred introduced the Lego system at a toy fair in Germany. It was the first time it was introduced surface of Denmark. The results were disappointing. Kristiansen did not give up. Later that year, the Lego system Play was developed. It was an improved system for the Lego bricks. The Lego system Play was exported to Sweden, where it sold well.

In 1959, Lego bricks and the Lego system were introduced in Great Britain, France, and Belgium.

It wasn't until 1961 that Lego bricks were first marketed in the U.S. And Canada. They were an immediate hit and distribution around the world continued. By the end of that decade, 843 citizen in Billund worked for the Lego company. The first Legoland film was produced. In 1969, the Duplo system for children under age five was introduced.

By 1970, there were approximately 1,000 employees at the plant in Billund.

In 1980, the Educational Products group was established. The Duplo Rabbit logo was introduced and a recognize showed that 70 percent of all Western European families with children under age 14 had Lego in their home.

As 1990 unfolded, the Lego Group had become one of the world's 10 largest toy manufacturers and the only toy company of that size in Europe. The others were in Japan and the U.S. More than one million citizen visited the Legoland theme park and Godtfred Kirk Kristiansen famed his 70th birthday. Lego Publishing was renamed Lego Licensing and the Legoland Band issued an Lp.

With the beginning of the new century, Lego continues to grow. It has also continued to remain a family owned company. These days, Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen, the grandson of Ole Kirk, runs the company.

In 2003, a description 1.63 million citizen visited the Legoland theme park in Billund. The Lego mini-figure famed its 25th birthday and the Bionicle film "Mask of Light" was released to great success. Representations of the Lego mini-figures Biff Starling and Sandy Moondust are the first earthlings to reach the planet Mars onboard the Nasa Mars rovers "Spirit" and "Opportunity." The Lego instruction town in Shanghai opened. The thought was aimed at children from age three to age twelve. There are more than 80 Lego instruction Centers in Korea alone. Http://www.lego.com receives around four million visitors per month.

Lego bricks are more than just construction blocks. They are learning toys. They build on popular themes and children's stories and allow the child to practice his or her own imagination and creativity. Offshoots of the basic brick comprise such toys as Lego Robotics, Star Wars Lego, Harry Potter Legos and many other construction toys and kids' games. It is truly astounding what a few bricks and a full part of imagination will produce.

Ridge Racer 3D Game divulge

Sometimes I wonder if Namco, in its own strange way, doesn't effect Herbert Hoover's old political catchword of "a chicken in every pot and a car in every backyard." After all, doesn't it seem like a given that at this point, with only a few exceptions, new hardware isn't new hardware unless there's a Ridge Racer to play on it? Which brings us to Ridge Racer 3D.

For over 15 years, Namco's familiar formula of drifts, powerslides, and big boosts has proven to be a mostly winning combo. And Ridge Racer 3D does itsybitsy to deviate from that well-trodden path. Yes, it adds a new dynamic, but doesn't search for the new medium for much beyond the same sort of gimmickry that you often see film critics decry in 3D Hollywood fare.

Lego

At its core is a sound Ridge Racer game that feels approximately on par with 2005's Psp activate title. It's not quite as magical as that game, but it evokes the same the same streamlined and well-adapted spirit. And adaptation is really the operative term. Rr3D carries sure strategic gameplay elements seen in Rr titles that have come since Rr Psp, such as Rr7's confidence on slipstreaming to gain a lead on opposing cars.

Mechanically, the 3Ds analog slider complements gameplay great than the Psp's tiny nub. It's bigger and more ergonomically sound for this style of game. But Rr3D's namesake feature, while sometimes helpful, is mostly gimmicky. Most of the 3D effects are much less about providing a new spin on familiar gameplay and more for show and presentation (i.e. Confetti-like paint chips flying off as you collide, dust kicking up while drifts, leaves hitting the screen). Other effects, such as shadows, feel super-pronounced. A itsybitsy 3D goes a long way though. If you go through the game with the slider fully cranked, you will probably have to take a itsybitsy and stop racing so that your eyes don't strain too much.

Rr3D falls short when it comes to multiplayer. There are no online features to speak of, and even the StreetPass feature merely allows you to gain other players' ghost data and rank them on your personal leaderboard. It's a blown opportunity to really show off what 3Ds could do for a game like this, especially for a series which has had some sound online content in its more modern console iterations.

At its best, Ridge Racer 3D conjures up fond memories of 2005-era drifting and powersliding through exotic locales. At its worst, it squanders opportunities to really contribute more than a few flying paint chips and ghost data races. Still, while it could have added up to a greater sum, its parts are still reasonably sound.

Lego Star Wars review - Set 10179 Ucs Millennium Falcon review

Star Wars Lego Set 10179, The Millennium Falcon, is part of Lego's greatest collector Series (Ucs) that has wowed fans with large models, concentration to detail and high collectability. The Millennium Falcon is not only the largest of these sets ever released it is the largest Lego set ever, with over 5000 pieces. For Star Wars fans there is the added bonus that this ship is built to minifigure scale. So that means that the minifigures that come with the set are in accurate size proportion to the huge ship that transports them across the galaxy.

The minifigures are probably the least lively part of the set, given the petition of the ship, but it is nice that Lego sought to contain minifigures with the set as old Ucs releases have not included any figures. There are five figures, Han Solo, Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, Obi wan Kenobi and Chewbacca all in episode Four, A New Hope garb. It is a good selection of figures that could have been improved by adding the final two characters that travelled with this crew on their travels, the two droids R2-D2 and C3Po.

Lego

The Millennium Falcon ship is a Corellian Engineering Corporation Yt-1300 freighter and was won by the smuggler Han Solo in a game of Sabacc. The someone he won the ship off was none other than Lando Calrissian. The Lego model itself is obviously very big and would certify a essential display area if it is to be put on show. The ship is over 33" long, 22" wide and 8" tall (84cm long x 56cm wide x 21cm tall). And given the piece count this is not the kind of set that you will be assembling very often, so defiantly rule where it is going to go before you start building!

The detail on the Ucs model is beautiful and the concentration given to even the smallest exterior extends all over the ship. A large range of small pieces are applied to the top exterior to give it the realistic look. Given all the concentration paid to the exterior it is a shame that there is approximately zero playability inside the ship.

Two citizen can sit side by side with someone else two citizen in a row behind them. There is a boarding ramp underneath and a gunner chair at the top. That is about it. Granted, much of the inner space is taken up with building pieces to keep this large and wide set together but it would have been nice to see a dejarik table or some sleeping quarters etc. But this is a minor quibble.

The set comes with a large spiral bound study book and will take some hours to build. It also features a display card with detailed ship specifications of the ship to accentuate the display. Allembracing it is a highly recommended for those with the money to afford the 9 model and the space to store it.

Lego spin 2010 - Grand Emporium 10211

The next installment of the intricately detailed Lego Modular buildings has arrived with set 10211 Grand Emporium. The set follows on from other models in this series together with store Street, Cafe Corner, Green Grocer and Fire Brigade which all join together to generate an breathtaking city road diorama.

The detail in these models is breathtaking and sets them apart from quarterly models, as does the average recommended building age. At 14+ these models are more in the league of adult collectors who enjoy the attentiveness to detail and establish and the intricate build.

Lego

This set is a model of a three storey department store and its sidewalk entry area. There are escalators, mannequins in the window, revolving doors, clothing department complete with a cash register and fitting room, a glassware department on the second floor and a toy department on the top floor. Face window shoppers can send letters and buy an ice cream and gaze up at the window washer suspended from the top floor. A chandelier graces the ceiling inside while a billboard and skylight sit atop the roof.

The set has an breathtaking 2182 pieces which will give you an idea of how many small embellishments are in the model. Out of all the modular buildings Lego has made so far, this set has the most attentiveness paid to the inside. It is roughly as if Lego initially envisaged this series as being display-only models but then decided half way through to focus on the inside as well, to make them more interactive. There are many small pieces which add a sense of character to the set and give it a sense of being part of a real "lived-in" Lego city.

The model comes with 7 mini figures which isn't a lot for a set this size, but as mentioned earlier the main focus of theses sets is the buildings. The Grand Emporium building measures 15" (38 cm) high and 10" (25 cm) wide and slots nicely alongside any of the other modular sets production an impressive interactive diorama.

enumerate of Lego Star Wars Boba Fett Slave 1 - A Collector's Dream

Boba Fett, the infamous Mandalorian bounty hunter, is hired by Darth Vader in Star Wars lesson V: The Empire Strikes Back. His job was to find Hans Solo along with the crew of the Millennium Falcon. Boba is one of the best villains of the Star Wars saga and some fans find his character darker than even Darth Vader's. In 2008, Empire magazine premium Boba as one of the 100 many Movie Characters of all time.

The first Lego Star Wars set was made out of proper Lego bricks and released in 2000. This was the set 7144 and was soon followed by 7153 in 2002. The 7153 featured the paramount Slave 1 along with Boba Fett and his father Jango Fett. The popularity of this set amongst die-hard fans gave birth to a new set in 2006 when Lego launched the Star War trilogy and brought back Slave 1 with a Cloud City theme. This set first saw the mini figures of Ig -88, Boba Fett, Denger, Hans Solo and a Bespin Guard. The Slave 1 ship was similar, in that Boba had slightly redesigned his father's ship as reflected in the primary Trilogy.

Lego

In 2010, Lego Star Wars Boba Fett Slave 1 is back with a wholly new look, with the set 8097. The mini figures are truly wonderful with Slave 1 and Boba Fett himself being the star attractions. The space ship has some new vivid colors and the details on Boba give him a real life quality, with dented armour depicting previous fights and a helmet detach from the jet pack. The set also includes mini figures of Bossk, the paramount Trandoshan bounty hunter as well as a new Hans Solo, also very well detailed. What appeals to most fans is that they may now re-enact the paramount scene which introduced Boba, Bossk, Denger and Ig-88.
